5.7 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Southeast Alaska

Dan Moore - Thursday, June 05, 2014
According to the Washington Post, an earthquake with a reported magnitude of 5.7 shook southeast Alaska this morning. The quake was centered about 90 miles west of Juneau. There are no reports of damage, and we are grateful that our employees and patients are safe.

When the ground starts shaking in Alaska, we can all rest a little easier knowing that the RBSE team took extra precautions when building our centers. The vaults in our facilities are outfitted with a seismic kit that can withstand a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. It added a level of complexity to our building process, but our team felt it was well worth the added time and expense to ensure that our vaults are secure.

Thanks to our friends at AE Design, we were prepared for this early morning wake up call!  We send our best to our partners and teammates in Alaska – stay safe, everyone!
